This is exactly the kind of thing that’s becoming too common.
A Mexican tourist in a FamilyMart in Minami-Aoyama suddenly started filming inside the store.
The staff told him clearly “No filming!” and even called the police.
When the police arrived, he lied without hesitation:
“If they had told me filming wasn’t allowed from the beginning, I wouldn’t have done it.”
He kept filming even after being told to stop.
The fact that this video is spreading and he’s showing zero remorse says everything.
He’s not embarrassed. He’s not reflecting. He’s just annoyed he got caught.
Japanese convenience stores have rules against filming for privacy and security reasons.
Most Japanese people understand this without being told.
But some foreigners come here and act like the rules don’t apply to them. Then they lie to the police when confronted.
This isn’t about one bad tourist.
It’s about a growing number of people who come to Japan but refuse to respect how things work here.
If you can’t follow basic rules in someone else’s country, you shouldn’t be surprised when people get tired of it.
