The best thing that ever happened to me was being scammed out of all my money.
It was early-February of 2021, and I had been watching my friends on Facebook post screenshots of them making $50-100k a day.
I reached out to one of them and asked what he was selling or doing to make so much money.
He told me he bought a bunch of crypto early, and held it for years. When I asked him for advice on what I should do, he told me buy something new that’s just launched and hold. I asked him where I could do that, he said DeFi was where everything launched.
So that’s what I did. I deposited our life savings into Coinbase, made a Coinbase wallet, put my money on there, waited for someone in the crypto group to call a coin and I threw everything we had into it.
I didn’t know what contract addresses were, so I just searched for the ticker and bought the first coin I saw.
In 16 minutes, everything was gone.
I went to sell, nothing was happening.
I started to panic… because it wasn’t just my money I lost…
We had just had our first kid just a little bit prior, and the only reason I wanted to make this money was to provide a good life for her.
I walked over to my baby’s bedroom where my wife was playing with our infant daughter, and trembling with fear I told her…
“I think I just lost all of our money… I don’t know how but I promise I’ll make it back”
I expected fury… but she could see that the pain I was experiencing was greater than anything she could cause.
She looked at me and said “I trust you, do what you have to do”
I locked myself away in my office for 16-20 hours a day, and learned everything I could about defi.
I read the gitbooks of uniswap, of ethereum, etherscan, I learned to read solidity code, I learned to audit wallets, transactions, the entire ledger.
I attacked crypto with a vengeance, I vowed I would NEVER be scammed again. I would turn this pain into power. I couldn’t quit, my daughter Elyria needed her dad to figure this out.
After two weeks straight of 16 hour days, I took the remaining $100 I had left and put $80 of it into a new project I found after auditing it fully. This was February 28th of 2021.
I had nothing left to lose…
That $80 turned into $40,000 in 3 weeks, took $35,000 of it and paid off all our debts and paid our landlord a few weeks late. Took the remaining $5,000 and reinvested it, and kept doing that over and over. By November of 2021, in just 9 MONTHS that $80 had turned into $14,000,000, a paid off home, paid off cars, retired parents, and a life for my wife and daughters that I never imagined.
I changed the entire future of my family and bloodline…
All because someone scammed me.
@spectrumarvel Bruh, silver surfer at $200 is insane.
I'd take 5 of him if I could.
But I'll go with Spiderman, Sentry/Void, Silver surfer, and the Scarlet Witch
@msdjones86@WatcherGuru It's both philanthropy, and a publicity stunt marketing strategy.
They will pay to stock and staff the store with their protocol profits.
They will write those costs off on their taxes.
They will get free press and publicity from doing this.
@BarbellFi Disney.
If he pays off that debt, he'll just rack up new debt again on other bullshit.
The memories he will make with his kids will last a lifetime.
@MatrixMysteries It's called interest and fees.
You got 3 options:
Get good at understanding and negotiating the numbers.
Get rich enough to just pay for it outright.
Buy something cheaper.
@stephsmithio Sounds like you become the bottleneck when you only hire people who you can do the work of.
You should hire people to replace aspects of what you do for scalability and free up time, but also hire people to expand beyond what you are capable of so the company can grow beyond you
