THESE DEVS ARE INSANE!
@0xCitadel are dropping Beta gameplay patch 3 on day 9!
These guys are not only pushing out big gameplay changing updates, they are also pushing hotfixes daily.
The Loop is perfect: Play -> Feedback -> discussed -> Implemented/fixed.
I truly admire each one of the devs & their dedication and passion.
I've not enjoyed playing this game so much, providing feedback, streaming it to you guys in years.
The next stream will be live when the new update drops.
Expect a whole new World.✊️
Don't make the mistake I made with a handful of ships in the Citadel:
Rushing into dangerous territory with your brand-spanking-new ship
Seriously, I've spent 5 minutes building a ship and 3 minutes flying it before it was destroyed
If you put your best gear on your best ship, you can't take it to the lower-level areas (over 8k BR)
Having low-level gear, or simply stripping your ship of all non-essential equipment (guns, mining laser, repair) ensures you can level it up for affinity perks, engage bonus modifiers, learn how your ship handles, learn any new subsystems you are unfamiliar with, and fix any potential weaknesses or flaws in your build
It is easiest to escape in the first area if things don't go well, so I will usually sandbag my build until I can run this area 1-2 times and hit at least level 10
Here I will pump the power up to just under 8k and keep it there while I run the 2nd area 1-2 times and get all of my main affinity perks
In this example, I have an awkward ship I have never flown, drones I have never used, and a weird shield setup
Got a new shield and learned I could command twice as many drones, which entirely powered up this build after gaining a dozen levels
After one more run and some heat management, it should be ready for the danger zone
Remember: Take it easy
Captain's log [Location: Cloud Wake, @0xCitadel]
Day 8:
For exceptional bravery (or recklessness) and taking a huge risk in deploying myself in fights over Cloud Wake, I was today promoted to Praetor.
I've also built my best ships so far.
To then lose one of them not to a terrible enemy, but to a wall that once served me as protection, but changed into an insurmountable obstacle - I got stuck
I've had a good time with my wingmen laughing and chilling before we rushed to the fight where we lost our friend to a high-speed, sushi-powered Tzhal. Rest in peace.
With every day I find myself more and more competent in this stark distant place.
Cyber's out.

Day 7:
Day seven was one of my best days so far.
I've been promoted to Ganden Commander!
I found some old blueprints of 3 ships and built Jackal and Condor based on them. However, I installed modules only on the second one so far.
My praetor died when I flew into someone's leftover vault mess, but it was rebuilt quickly and now it's even better.
A masterwork quality of a module was delivered to me for the first time.
And I successfully hid myself from the most feared Tzhal by pretending I'm part of the wall in the clouds.
Cyber's out.
It's incredible how much development time goes into ensuring a browser game like @0xCitadel remains stable.
Check out how large these hotfixes are!
- Ship loss adjustments
- NPC Behavioural changes
- Weapon & Balance tweaks
- Legendary Artifact adjustments
- Networking & login issue fixes
& more!
More than 4000+ letters in a single hotfix patch, which is more than most games care to put effort into.
Beta Patch 3 is on it's way. Absolute Cinema
Trying to figure out the best way to use these ship upgrades in the Citadel
I didn't cover the % chance upgrades because I always use them right away, but they are fairly obvious
The important takeaways are:
Don't upgrade or use items with 2 or more bonus stats unless you have upgraded the corresponding affinity (+4 for 2 stats, +7 for 3 stats, and +10 for all 4)
Hermes Augmenter - Adds 1 bonus stat (best for cheap ships)
Laplace Matrix - Use to add 4 bonus stats to rare items (save for great ships with matching affinity)
Janus Graft - Adds a port
Cardea Portmender - Shuffles port locations
Styx Edict - Locks a bonus stat
Karios Rollback - Removes the lowest unlocked bonus stat
Shiva Cycler - Removes all unlocked bonus stats
Ptah Crucible - Rerolls rarity (great to use on rare faction gear so you can continue upgrading it with Hermes or Laplace Matrix)
Tek Cyphers - Used on empty ports for extra bonuses
Conduits - Must be the same type as the module connected to the port
Drop your ship-building tips in the comments!
My first overview of @0xCitadel is already here 🕵️♂️
I finally sat down to figure it out properly
And it turned out not to be just another “web3 game coming soon™” after all
The project has been in development since 2021, and they now have a fully playable beta featuring PvE, PvP, loot, ship customization, and a rather harsh loss of all items upon death.
Let's dig deeper
This is a thread 🧵
Stealing my first Relic in The Citadel
I kept my cool and didn't panic due to my hardened nerves of high-carbon steel
Those collisions were completely tactical and all part of my plan
They say a cargo is never big enough.
That might be truth but at least I've tried.
This is my 30lvl Seraph for mining, fighting, grabbing, collecting in Breach 2 until the very last minute.
Captain's log would be poor today, since I had important planetary mission too handle. So lets skip it.
