Maths is language, all the symbols have a direct verbal meaning you can verbalise. From then on you just build gradually on prerequisites. The real thing with learning maths is the optimal path to learn incrementally, you just need the right inductive approach and it follows quite easily
When I gave this speech in October 2022, Bitcoin traded near $20,000, Strategy held 130,000 BTC worth about $2.6 billion, and $MSTR was ~$24 split-adjusted. Weeks later, after Bitcoin fell below $16,000, our debt exceeded the combined value of our BTC and cash reserves by ~$300 million, and $MSTR fell into the $13 range by year-end.
We stayed focused, strengthened the company, and executed our strategy. Since then, Strategy has raised over $60 billion of additional capital and invested it in Bitcoin, adding more than 716,000 BTC. Today, our BTC and USD reserves exceed debt by ~$48 billion. Thank you to everyone who believed, endured, and took the long view.
Euros: Wait, I thought this country was a gun ridden hellscape. What do you mean everything is nice and the stadiums are incredible?
Americans: Wait, I thought you were all poor. How can you all fly overseas and spend six weeks not working just watching soccer games?
@ClerkFelix20614 Maybe part of it, also the realisation that the platonic ideal that is high level mathematics is so complex and humbling to grasp that there must be a divine entity to establish the bridge
Contract roll, the price of these perps ~ the price of front-month futures contracts for oil. The market is in backwardation, meaning prices for contracts that settle further into the future are cheaper than for those who settle sooner (it happens during a supply shock when people need the commodity now). To keep the perps alive, they need to roll at the end of the month to the next contract with a later expiry, which is trading way below the current perp prices. So the perps are expected to decline a certain amount as time passes, and the negative funding amounts to the rate that makes it fair given the current spread between the current front-month contract and the next one
Many people in social and political discourse, sometimes even in their personal life, frame their thoughts in the third person as a moral imperative, most often dogmatic and ideological. They’re forfeiting their critical thinking to be the slaves of an ideology
