ANOTHER REVOLUTION AI TECHNOLOGY: FROM HETEROGENEOUS EXECUTION TO VERIFIABLE ON-CHAIN MODELS

Many projects promise trustless and scalable AI on-chain. But in reality, most systems still rely on centralized operators to run AI models, making their outputs vulnerable to manipulation and difficult to verify.

Running AI on traditional blockchains like the EVM is also inefficient. Every node must replicate same computation, which makes AI execution expensive and slow.

Imagine a DeFi application that uses AI to predict market.
If the model provider can manipulate results without verifiable proof, then trust disappears and the system becomes vulnerable.

This is what makes the integration of AI and blockchain less than optimal.

Ritual aims to change this

Through the concept of Heterogeneous Execution, Ritual enables computation to run modularly, so that not all nodes need to run same tasks.

With help of components like Sidecars and Precompiles, AI computations can be run by specialized nodes without compromising network security.

The next step is to deliver Verifiable On-Chain Models through a system of AI Primitives.

Ritual introduces various AI computation verification methods, such as:

- ZKML for cryptographic proofs of small models
- OPML with an optimistic verification mechanism
- TEE for fast execution on isolated hardware
- vTune, a probabilistic method for verifying model fine-tuning

With this approach, AI computation not only becomes more scalable but can also be trustlessly verified on the blockchain.

The results open up many new possibilities, such as AI agents running in DAOs, adaptive DeFi strategies, and AI models that can be owned, traded, and monetized directly on-chain.
