We hit #3 on Product Hunt. We were #2 until the last two hours.
Here's exactly what that mistake, and the whole launch, taught us.
Last week we launched Scribble Network. #3 Launch of the Day, 36 brands signed up and ran the product within 24 hours. I promised the honest retro, so here are the lessons I'd tell any founder about to do this:
1. We pushed our launch by a week
Best decision of the campaign. We weren't ready: no hunter closed, half-baked content, community not warmed up. Nobody remembers a delayed launch. Everybody remembers a botched one.
2. Product Hunt does not count every upvote as one full upvote
Votes are weighted. New and inactive accounts get discounted or stripped by automated sweeps. An upvote from a warm, established account is worth many multiples of one created yesterday. This single fact should reorganise your entire prep.
3. The tagline took longer than the tutorial video
Ours started as "AI visibility Service as a Software." Clever. Communicated nothing. Clarity beats cleverness, every single time.
4. Promise only what exists today
The PH crowd signs up within minutes of reading your page, and the gap between description and product gets measured in public, in your own comments. The vision goes in the investor deck.
5. The first 24hours are the most critical
We did, for two hours near the end. It cost us a silver badge. Momentum decays fast, and the products that win stay active until the literal final minute.
6. The moment you go live the upvote sellers arrive
Hundreds of them. Do not do it, not even to test. It can shadowban your page while you think everything's fine.
The meta-lesson: every tactic is a multiplier, but multipliers need something to multiply. We didn't hit #3 because we played the leaderboard well. We hit #3 because 36 brands had the same quiet question we did ("is AI recommending my competitor instead of me?") and we gave them a two-minute way to find out.
Full write-up with all 18 lessons, including the hunter hunt, the vote-weighting mechanics, and the botting problem nobody talks about, is in the comments.
And if you're prepping your own launch, my DMs are open. I have opinions now. :)
THESIS PROVEN!
This shit works!!!
A preliminary report of @scribble_dao creator content generating citations for our clients.
These creators are the founders of the citation economy.
In traditional SEO, Google often asked:
"Which page is the most authoritative answer?"
The signals were:
> Backlinks
> PageRank
> Domain authority
> Anchor text
> Internal links
In AI search, the question is:
"Can I verify this claim about this brand across multiple sources?"
Signals:
> Website
> LinkedIn
> Reddit
> YouTube transcripts
> News mentions
> Review sites
> Forums
> Wikidata
> Community discussions
Most brands are chasing GEO strategies before their website is even readable by AI.
Here are the 7 on-site things you need to fix first and what actually happens if you don't…
Google just redesigned search for the first time in 25 years.
AI Mode hit 1 billion monthly users.
Queries are doubling every quarter.
And someone on Reddit asked the question nobody in marketing wants to answer.
"If users have a 24/7 search agent, will they ever visit our sites again?"

The thought of building this started when I was trying to create LLM-friendly content for @scribble_dao, for our clients, and for myself.
The cumbersome bit was figuring out what LLM-friendly content actually looks like. So I researched. A lot. Day and night kind of a lot.
But research is one thing. How do you make it easy to actually implement?
So I built GEO Checker for my own ease first. Then thought, doesn't everyone want visibility in the AI era? Why not share it?
I built an interface around it and decided to put it in front of our creator community, marketer friends, and anyone else trying to gain visibility for themselves or their brand.
Launched on ProductHunt today.
Go check your content, drop your score in the comments, and share your feedback.
It would mean a lot - https://t.co/QnDYgBtZVO
