The @zama Confidential Blockchain Protocol

Zama’s Confidential Blockchain Protocol (the Zama Protocol) brings true end-to-end confidentiality to existing public blockchains — without creating a new L1/L2 and without forcing users to bridge.

It introduces a new standard for private onchain computation, powered by Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE):

• End-to-end encrypted transactions & state
All inputs and contract states remain encrypted at all times — invisible even to node operators.
• Full composability
Confidential contracts can interact with each other and with non-confidential contracts, enabling seamless integration across the ecosystem.

• Programmable confidentiality
Smart contracts define who can decrypt what. Developers get complete control over access rules.
• A cross-chain confidentiality layer
The protocol runs on top of existing chains. Users can interact with confidential dapps directly from their preferred networks — no bridging, no new chain friction.

At the core is Zama’s cutting-edge FHE technology, enabling computation directly on encrypted data. FHE has long been seen as cryptography’s “holy grail,” and Zama has spent the last 5 years making it practical:

To overcome the limitations of traditional privacy solutions, the Zama Protocol combines:
