Last week, during our Virtual Parade Night, the cadets were set a STEM challenge to create a 'balloon car'. They needed to design and make a car that would be powered by a balloon.
Tonight we saw two excellent entries from Cdt Murray and Cdt Borland. Well done!!
This morning we attended Christ Church in Jarrow to celebrate ATC Sunday.
ATC Sunday is the annual event which celebrates the formation of the ATC on 5th February 1941. Cadets up and down the country will be attending services to celebrate 79 years of the ATC!
Last night, we were lucky enough to be invited for a tour around Newcastle Aviation Academy!
We were shown around the academy to find out about what they do and the opportunities they provide. We were also able to have a look around various aircraft!

Last month, we celebrated our success at wing competitions day! On Thursday evening, CI Readman was presented with her certificate for placing third in the CFAV aeromodelling category! Cdt Vaughan, on behalf of the whole first aid team, received their third place certificate! π
In June, CI Readman and FS McKinnon took part in the wing's Activities First Aid course. Tonight, they were presented with their certificates! FS McKinnon also recieved the first silver first aid badge on the squadron!
A huge thank you to John from Blood Bikes for visiting us tonight and telling us all about what they do! Blood bikes provide a vital service and it was fantastic hearing all about it! π
π Competitions Day Success π
Following on from our previous tweets, we are thrilled to announce that 1027 placed 4th overall in the wing at last weekend's competition!
1027 have not placed near the top spots in recent memory so this is a huge success!
Well done to Sgt McNally who placed second in his aeromodelling category and CI Readman who placed third in the staff category! We now have a shelf dedicated to the Tornado!
Today we have been at the inter-squadron archery competition at 324 squadron! We achieved some great scores considering we had no practice prior to the competition!
Well done to FS McKinnon who was presented with her master cadet classification and her bronze leadership badge on Monday!
She has worked extremely hard over the past few weeks to complete the cadet classification syllabus!
