Socceroos and Sydney FC midfielder Paul Okon-Engstler is set for a move to the Bundesliga, following a breakout World Cup campaign.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that the midfielder will join Germany's 1. FC Köln for a €1 million fee (AU$1.65m).

Okon-Engstler joined Sydney FC from Portuguese giants Benfica in July 2025.

The Egyptians are FUMING after their Round of 16 exit from the World Cup at the hands of Lionel Messi's Argentina.

Egypt coach Hossam Hassan led the chorus of criticism against FIFA, VAR and referee François Letexier following their dramatic 3-2 loss to the reigning World Champions.

The match had many controversial moments, including a contentious VAR call to disallow an Egypt goal that could have eventually seen the African side lead 3-0 over Argentina.

Belgium has eliminated the US, defeating the co-hosts 4-1 in the Round of 16 to progress.

The result means all three of the co-hosting nations in the US, Mexico and Canada have been eliminated in the Round of 16.

President Donald Trump has confirmed he put a call in to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, which led to the suspension of US striker Folarin Balogun's controversial red card.

Balogun, one of the US' key players at the World Cup, was originally suspended for his nation's Round of 16 clash with Belgium as a result of the red card, but following Trump's call to Infantino, is now free to play in the match.

Trump also called into question the history of referee Raphael Claus, who issued the red card to Balogun.

England midfielder Jordan Henderson was stretchered off following a fall during celebrations after his side's dramatic 3-2 victory over Mexico.

Manager Thomas Tuchel confirmed the injury to his wrist was serious, with Henderson remaining in Mexico City for treatment while the squad returned to their US base.
