Spot on. I still loved the stories & show before learning about TIOS, and they stand on their own, but this made the universe so much richer, & sparked my interest in fictional history/lore/maps etc. It's not essential reading, but I'd highly recommend it to anyone who asks!

Not many brands/franchises have creators that were so invested in their creations that they would go into the depth that Wilbert Awdry did.

Do we need it? No.

But, isn’t it SO magical and heartwarming to know that someone cared enough to go to this length for their vision? 100%

I think to disregard the IOS book is a big lost. I'm not saying its required reading but it gives you an insight to the world the RWS lives in.

You can still enjoy the books for what they are and thats fine.

But a good portion of us love how fleshed out the world is

Due to an operational issue between Wharf & Pendre the 11:45 ex-Wharf and 13:03 ex-Nant Gwernol service with No.2 Dolgoch has been cancelled, Rusty's Goods Train has also been cancelled. Other trains are currently running late as a result. (1/3)
