@minordissent@dystopiangf said it before, and I'll say is again, @minordissent is the best poaster going, and maybe I'm inclined to think so because his takes are whitepill inducing
Amazon just censored a book first published in 1973 that depicts the destruction of the west through third-world mass migration.
I'm sure all the people who whine about "book bans" when a school board prevents 6-year-olds from reading about gay sex will be just as upset.
And from there the task of the nobility was to craft an external conscience for the rest of us. Ritual, clerical orders, responsibilities passed down...and enforced. To try and split the atom of the common soul...into something better. With mixed results of course
We all need an audience, to some extent, to perform. To be virtuous, to be productive, etc. It's just that noble natures are able to cut themselves into a kind of two - the doer, and the overseer. A dual nature that spurs self-discipline, creative work, standards of the self. This is how the conscience itself originated...and it did so first (and perhaps only fully) among the nobility.
Side, very tangential observation related to this incredible post: so much of what passes for "empathy" today is really just garden variety solipsism. An increased flexibility of the "I"...that it can be displaced there and there and there. But its content never changes, the person being empathized with is just me in a different context, etc
UBI advocacy stems from the naïveté and solipsism that because *I* am a deeply creative latent producer who is oppressed by my wagee job and would actualize my creative potential if only i could have my basic needs met, this must be true for everyone. Its not.
First of all, it’s not even true for these “creatives”. If you aren’t creation maxxing while waging, you wont do it under luxury communism either. Creative work is extremely taxxing and your wage job isn’t actually that hard. The problem is your neuroticism and lack of discipline, not your job. All your necessities being provided for will only make you weaker and gayer such that you’ll make up some new bullshit to get overwhelmed by and then cope by playing video games all day. But worse because you won’t even have “at least i did *something* productive today”, which will magnify
your depression.
Second, luxury communism already exists for the bottom 20% of the population. All their food, housing, etc is completely covered by the state. Entire generations of people who haven’t worked a job in their lives. Do they go on to produce beautiful art and build companies? Or do they go on to get high and kill each other?
The truth is that we are close enough to UBI today that most of the people who will ever become great artists and inventors are already going to do it, and as we get closer all that will happen is the people incapable of anything more than wage slavery (most people) will simply become dysfunctional parasites.
I so want their post 2003 output to live up to their pre…and there are momentts, I really want to like we were dead specifically more than I do (March Into the Sea such a promising opener)…but then you get Education, we’ve got everything, fly trapped in a jar - lyrics just not quite up to the incredible snuff of the 2003 ones …anyways just rambling
@wokal_distance@christopherrufo Hoe_math’s extreme emotional deregulation during this episode seems so at odds with the intellectual precision of many of his YouTube vids that I’ve seen. Has he been compromised by the left to make us rightoids look bad?
