Domestic, family and sexual violence can affect people across their entire lifespan and older people are at an increased risk of abuse.
Violence and abuse towards older people can incorporate many forms including technology-facilitated abuse. Any abuse that happens via mobile, online or digital technologies falls into this category. Examples include family members tracking their location or harassing them via messages.
1800RESPECT offers free, confidential support to anyone in Australia experiencing violence and abuse.

Many factors contribute to the challenge of securing safe housing, including disrupted employment and unpaid leave, or discrimination against single mothers, people on income support, and pet owners.
Across Australia, there are housing supports available for people impacted by violence. You can search our Service Directory for housing services near you: https://t.co/G1JO4HeFsk

For people living in rural, regional and remote areas, accessing local resources and support for domestic, family and sexual violence may be difficult. This can be due to physical barriers like limited local support services, lack of transport and poor network coverage.
There are also additional barriers, for example โ low confidence in the confidentiality of support due to the likelihood that the police, health professional or case worker may know them personally. This can cause a potential risk or reluctance to reach out.
1800RESPECT is available 24/7, nationwide, so you can contact us at a time that suits you:

Image based abuse is when someone shares or threatens to share nude, explicit or other intimate images or video of you without consent.
Sharing or threatening to share intimate images in domestic and family violence can be part of coercive control and abusive behaviour that uses manipulation, and fear to control you.
If someone shares or threatens to share an intimate image or video of you, the @eSafety Commissioner can help have the content removed or stop the threats. You can learn more about image-based abuse here: https://t.co/7l3zF7UWcR
