@farmingandJesus Leviticus 15:16 seems to be talking about male masturbation. In 15:18, there's a man ejaculating with a woman present, but in v16, there's no mention of a woman.
The verse does not condone nor condemn the act, it just instructs what to do after it happens.
@unsc95@God_Questioner How should I know that? We don't need to know that.
Not the best comparison, but when we build robots, we also don't tell them everything about ourvelves, but make them for a specific reason with limited knowledge.
@unsc95@God_Questioner What...? Deuteronomy was written in Hebrew and it used the words Hebrew language contained at the time.
If God used some "perfect/God language", who knows what that would look like and we probably wouldn't even understand 1%.
This is a silly argument.
@unsc95@God_Questioner Even in that case it's not saying it's OK, but how to act after it happens.
But what I'm saying is that those interpretations are incorrect because a different word with a different meaning is used.
@unsc95@God_Questioner That's not what I'm saying at all.
Verb חָזַק means "to rape". תָּפַשׂ is a different verb with a different meaning. Your case would be strong if Deuteronomy 22:28 used the word חָזַק, which it does not.
@JohnMB69 4 out of 6 persons I mentioned were not messengers authorized by God. They saw apostasy and decided to fix it. There were many kings before, after and in parallel (Northern kingdom) who had a chance to do the same but didn't.
@Xtopher_Uzo Does "praying for everybody" grant the same amount of time off as praying for an infividual or does it distribute to ten billion souls so each one gets a fraction of a second shorter sentence?
@unsc95@God_Questioner Only if the verb תָּפַשׂ (in Deuteronomy 22:28) unequivocally meant "to rape", which it does not.
Verb חָזַק (in Deuteronomy 22:25) means "to rape" and in that case, the man is put to death.
(notice the discrepancy)
@unsc95@God_Questioner Based on Biblical morality, God allows it.
e.g. Deuteronomy 12:20 "...you say, ‘I will eat meat,’ because you desire to eat meat, then you may eat meat..."
@MarianTheosis@riecker To ignore the obvious inappropriateness of that response:
Not always. We often pray for things or in a way that is not according to His will.
Sometimes we can know though. The more you study His word, the more discernment you get about that.
@RobertJacobWoo1 I have a huge respect for Mary for the godly woman she was, but this image/likeness/icon - what the Cahtolics venerate, that's not the Biblical Mary of Nazareth.
@bannedpastor Calling SDA "worse than Catholic" is super harsh. Do SDA cultishly follow a fallible person (EGW)? If so, Catholics do that to a lot greater extend with their Roman bishops.
"Weird" tier would be more appropriate.
