🗣️ Reporter: “Maybe we see Carrick sacked soon. Sometimes changing the manager can save a season.”

🗣️ Fan:

“Save what? They’ve been ‘saving the season’ for about ten years.

Sack Carrick. Go on. Sack him tomorrow. Bring another manager in. Give him six months. Everyone gets excited, players start running again, Old Trafford is bouncing and we’re told Manchester United are back.

Then the manager asks for players. Doesn’t get everything he needs. Results turn. Suddenly he’s useless. Sack him as well.

How many times are we going to do this before somebody at the football club has the courage to look upstairs?

At some point you have to become curious. How many different managers have to fail under the same football club before somebody accidentally investigates the people choosing the managers?

That’s the incredible thing about Manchester United. The manager is apparently always responsible for the cycle, but the people running the cycle somehow survive every version of it.

Eventually the Glazers and INEOS have to stop pointing downstairs.

There’s nobody left down there they haven’t blamed.”
