@jeffMLBdraft Jeff, not anything to do with this, but I highly recommend you give a listen to the top KC analytics guy, Daniel Mack, interviewed in depth on Kauffman Corner's 10-30 podcast. His appearance there is in stark contrast to CLE's disappointing reticence to be as open w/you & Justin.
@Jared_Carrabis MLB never was behind the NBA in actual day-to-day interest. More people have always followed baseball's regular season than the NBA's...it's never been remotely close. I love the NBA, but c'mon, teams in OKC, Indianapolis, San Antonio, Portland? Major league cities have MLB.
@Brandon_Warne Good luck, Brandon, you were always an intelligent, responsible, informed voice who made following the Twins situation enjoyable. Even when it was clear you never understood how CLE kept winning and the Twins kept losing, I couldn't wait to hear your takes, will miss you greatly.
@BigAct1onEnt@Lansdead@VandyonTigers Nothing is music to ears of agents more than "pay him whatever it takes." Only dumb teams do that sort of thing, especially for pitchers. Yes, DET is .500 without Skubal on the mound the last 2 years, but you can't let that cloud judgments. As a CLE fan, I wish DET would pay him.
@DSzymborski@Lowetide I really don't understand the whole leading off third thing...had IKF just run through home plate he would have been safe by a mile...it was SLIDING for no reason that was the problem. Do we slide into first base to beat a throw?
@78yearstoolong@FranmilsEyebrow He's fortunate it was somewhat overshadowed by subsequent events.
But I thought he pitched well enough this year and, more importantly, his cache was sufficiently intact to persuade some desperate team to overpay for him, so I don't get him staying in TOR. At all.
@MattB_WOF@CLESportPrspctv@hiramboyd You don't get the resistance? You think he wore down in previous years, get those stubby legs running gap to gap and watch that bat speed slow even more. Mets studied this and CF requires nearly 2X effort. So you're going to take a GG in LF and make him an average defender in CF?
@alys216 The only thing that's annoying is hearing people think LA or NY actually accomplishes something when they win. C'mon, who really believes that nonsense? The achievement is pitifully small. But hey, it that floats your boat...
@alys216 The system is structured the way the league wants it, from the owners to the players. They all make tons of money, so I just accept the market disparity just like knowing I don't look like a matinee idol. You deal with it. I enjoy the challenge of being underestimated.
@78yearstoolong@FranmilsEyebrow Maybe he figured giving up 8 homers in 40 innings and raising his postseason ERA above 5.00 made him to think he needs a better platform to launch into free agency. But he's been aiming for this day for five years so color me shocked he's not seeking some greater security.
@CovertheCorner So...Chris is so evasive and dishonest a person that you'd be willing to maim yourself to get him to answer a question the way you'd prefer, am I hearing this correctly?
Funny, I hear him and know exactly what he's saying. It's all right there it you're willing to listen.
@gord_paul@GYasou61066@BlakeHHarris 1. He's nowhere near one of the top 5 players on earth.
2. Oh I forgot, Jeff Hoffman is a another wealthy bum, thanks for the reminder.
3. Enjoy Springer's 95 OPS+ in his age 37 season
4. Ha-ha...Andres' offense is getting worse, not better
5. Khal in CLE>Shane in TOR 2026-2032.
@CovertheCorner The lead was irrelevant compared to not running through home plate. What in the world was he sliding for? There was not going to be a tag, it was similar to sliding into first base...something you'd also never do in 99.99% of instances.
@MattB_WOF@OurCLEGuardians This is nonsense, of course, but keep beating that dead horse. Anthony Santander, Jose Abreu, Christian Walker...all of these all would have qualified as the "big fish" you would have approved over the "cheaper guys"...hell, George Springer had 101 & 97 OPS+ last 2 years.
@gord_paul@GYasou61066@BlakeHHarris 1. Signing a 5 WAR player to $400m deal
2. Giving a mint to Santander and Hoffman
3. Giving $150m to Springer for OPS+ of 102 and 91 the last 2 years (and another in 2026)
4. Paying Gimenez $20m/year to play D for the next 4 years.
5. Trading Khal Stephan for Bieber's 12 starts.
