Who remembers the Umbro Cup?

Back in 1995, a year before they hosted Euro 96, England held a four-team tournament featuring themselves, Brazil, Sweden and Japan.

On 8th June, Elland Road was the venue as England played Sweden.

This was a period when, whatever happened and whoever was in the respective teams, 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 just couldn’t beat 🇸🇪.

This game was no different. With the match approaching the 90th minute, Sweden were 3–1 up.

However, David Platt pulled one back before the pièce de résistance from Darren Anderton.

There’s something satisfying about a goal going in off the post; this one went in off two.

Great finish.
