Ginger is a young red grouper.

She is extremely curious and friendly. I worry about her being speared. Reds are wiped out on most nearshore reefs and commercially hunted in deeper waters.

When you see “grouper” on a menu, that’s an animal like Ginger. Please don’t eat them.

I'm incredibly nostalgic today for a variety of reasons: The state of the country, the state of our national environment ,and what I see is a lack of enthusiasm in finding commonality. We do need to change things soon because the country can't take too much of this self centeredness that blankets our current national identity.
