9 months ago members of a Russian mob hacked my computer and stole $150,000 of digital assets
Today, a portion of that was returned to me by the security team at Binance
I was never expecting to sniff a penny of that money again
The Russian hackers were tracked for months, with money being seized bit by bit as they moved the funds around
I'm honestly moved to tears thinking about this
I've talked about it before, but that event changed my life
Horribly at first, then incredibly in the long term
The pain changed me
It strengthened me
It put me on a different path. A path I believe has gotten me closer to my goals
In a really weird way, I'm grateful for the event happening.
I don't think I accomplish as much as I have without facing that kind of pain.
In an ironic turn, I don't think I quit my job to start my business without losing all of that money 9 months ago
The universe has a funny way of working.
Sometimes it needs to take you to hell to get you closer to heaven.
Keep pushing
Morbidly obese…
That’s what my chart said
Another “How I lost 40 lbs in 90 Days with no exercise… all while eating anything I wanted” gimmick, right?
Nope. This is my journey
How I lost 35 lbs in 16 weeks, and ran 2 half marathons
How did I do it? It's easier than you think
Ready?
My secret sauce???
2 week measurements...
I’m not making any claims that this will work for you…
That would be disingenuous
But if you give it a shot, it just might yield results
This is not just a story about weight loss.
It’s a story about...
#1- goal setting
#2- consistency
#3- determination
But, more importantly, it’s a story about survival…
More on that later
I was 40 lbs (minimum) overweight and on my way to being type2 diabetic
At 63, 5’-7” tall and weighing 220 lbs,
I was medically considered morbidly obese”
The first time I remember seeing that on my medical chart I was
MORTIFIED
That was the straw that broke the camel’s back
Rock bottom
I had grown up playing competitive hockey my entire childhood and into college
How could I have let myself fall to this level??
The answer…life
Life has a way of getting in the way…it has the ability to distract from
Good mental health
Good personal health
Good personal finances
The list goes on and on…
Anyway, I decided...needed... to take action
I consulted with a long time friend who put a plan in place that would get me off the couch and into better shape
I would need to start running…ughhhhh
First I started walking, then brisk walking and eventually jogging
I am NOT a runner. At 5’-7” and a longish torso…
well, you get the idea
So...
#1 - Goal setting
This is essential…you must have a goal!!
The goal was to run (jog) a half marathon 16 weeks from the day I started my routine. I locked in the date and the fact that it was on the other side of the country raised the stakes even higher.
I decided that I would measure my progress in 2 week intervals…
It seemed more practical to me.
I could handle 2 weeks between measuring results
I never weighed myself during the journey
I took a selfie every two weeks and sent it to my mother to document
I wore the same clothes every time I took the selfie
I measured my progress (in part) by the way a specific piece of clothing felt when I put it on every two weeks
It’s important to note that “weight” is not a reliable metric.
Many factors can contribute to weight “loss” or weight “gain” so I don't use it
But that’s a topic for another post
2 weeks is enough time to achieve tangible results
As long as you’re…
#2 - Consistent
I committed to vigorous (break a sweat) exercise every day for at least an hour. I didn’t always exercise for an hour all at the same time. Sometimes it was 20 minutes at a time, sometimes I jogged for two hours.
Bottom line…just commit to breaking a sweat every day.
Not pretty, but effective
I reduced carbs (not to Keto levels) which is unsustainable, imho
Reduced the window of time I ate to 8 hours.
First meal at noon...last one at 8PM
While exercise is vital, limiting the amount of time, and when you put food into your mouth is essential
Making sure it’s as close to whole food (not processed) as possible, will yield fantastic results
#3 - Determination
It won’t be easy….keep your goal in mind
The first 2 weeks will suck…keep your goal in mind
You’ll experience withdrawal symptoms from sugar…keep your goal in mind
You’ll consider quitting…keep your goal in mind
You will start to see results…keep your goal in mind
You’ll see even more results…keep your goal in mind
Things will get easier…keep your goal in mind
You’ll hit a plateau…keep your goal in mind
You’ll break through the plateau…keep your goal in mind
Exercise and timed whole food consumption will become fun…keep your goal in mind
You reached your goal!!
Congrats…you’re one determined human being.
Give yourself a pat on the back!!!
Getting back to survival…I truly believe that had I not set a goal, was consistent and determined to reach that goal, there’s a good chance I wouldn’t be around to…
"Just hit post"
P.S. I reached my goal. I ran(jogged) the half marathon, and ran (jogged) another one for good measure!!
P.S.S. I need to heed my own advice. Time to set another goal and set about achieving it.

@JoshBobrowsky Bingo!!!
I have no idea how my vehicle’s engine works, how electricity works…hell even how Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or how the friggin’ internet works but I happily use it…rely on it every day!!
Pfp’s projects based solely on a silly monkey’s etc. may be dead/dying but the technology behind blockchain, smart contracts and NFT’s is in it’s infancy and it ain’t goin’ nowhere!
P.S. I followed, and am replying to your post after I noticed one of your replies to @NFT_GOD …just sayin’
