I think there's some truth to it, because art (IMO) should be an expression of some aspect of humanity/the artist. As such it's inherently political & will "piss people off" because people disagree about what is worth expressing.

@theoneginevra Yes. I got 11k words in to a novel that I stopped writing. So, it wasn't an entire book as such, but it was the most significant thing I'd written at the time. I have trashed short stories though. One in particular I was going to resurrect but trashed it from a second anthology!
