I am your HPSG conference of 2020. I am taking place virtually (everywhere). @OlgaZamaraeva and @StefanMuelller are the organizers.

My intro to #HPSG2020, the first online #HPSG conference. With some remarks about #climatechange, our responsibility as academics, #flyingless, #unter1000, #vegetarian food and so on. https://t.co/vypOTXux32 @sciforfuture @S4F_BeBb @StayGroundedNet

Frank took over the conference locations from the webpage. =:-) Watch his prerecorded video on the #semantics of adjectival modification now and join the Q&A next week. #HPSG2020 #HPSG https://t.co/BZtNTCR3gQ

@BobBorsley =:-) Well, we carefully arranged things so that British people have dinner at this time (16:30). This could be vegetarian. Wait 16:30 is tee time, isn't it? This definitely would be #vegetarian. Even #vegan. The pic shows what you call "fingers", don't you? Hm. ...

The prerecorded invited talk of @Etyma1010 is now online as well. Ask questions in the comment field or in the Q&A session on Wednesday. Do not forget to register for the Q&A. 1/2 https://t.co/lSEuraQL2J

I gave a talk about nothing! Or rather implicit arguments. "Null Instantiation in SBCG" asks why we can say 'Store frozen' but not ??I stored frozen. We use constructions to capture genre & other contextual effects on implicit args. Joint work w @ruipchaves & the great Paul Kay!

2/2 The prerecorded talk of one of our invited speakers @gosseb is online. "Enhanced Universal Dependencies and its relationship to HPSG" #HPSG #DependencyGrammar #neuralParsing https://t.co/bRoFKMrgMl

We uploaded most of the prerecorded talks of #HPSG2020. Which them now and discuss during the Q&A sessions next week. https://t.co/bRoFKMrgMl #HPSG #syntax #grammar #linguistics 1/2

Organizing the first virtual #HPSG conference #HPSG2020 it is just great to see who registers. There are people I did not see for decades. Some I never saw before although I am doing HPSG for 27 years. This shows that it is a good idea to have at least some online conferences.

#HPSG2020 abstracts are online. Well, most of them. https://t.co/bRoFKMrgMl

2/2 Register for #HPSG2020 by sending "hi" to [email protected]. =:-)

Early registration is important for us since we want to reach a fair distribution of events according to the timezones of participants.

Organizing conferences is fun!
I wrote: "Registration is easy: just reply to this email and say hi."
I got several emails containing just "hi".

Who needs pragmatics and social conventions? It is just syntax/semantics all the way down. =:-p #HPSG2020 1/2
