1973 is when Disco as we know it started, as everyday New Yorkers found a release from life at The Loft in Manhattan. It inspired and set the scene for all great venues to come.
Even the dancing was a form of rebellion in Paris in WW2.
The Zazous would also draw attention to themselves. Even in front of sentries they would yell ‘Swing!’, hop on the spot, scream, ‘Zazou hey, hey, hey, za Zazou!’slap their hips 3 times, shrug their shoulders twice.

A big part of the Paris disco scene was Cab Calloway, who you might know from the Blues Brothers.
His 1933 tune Zaz Zuh Zaz was a big inspiration to the Paris nightclub scene, and even gave a name to it's fashion code
Nobody ever seems to wonder why dancing to records is a French term ...
In WW2, live jazz was banned in Paris, so the French resorted to dancing to records in what became the Discotheque

This is the original Perfecto design, before the football crest "P" arrived. I remember buying this 12" just because I loved the look of the label. Duotone printing with that striking image round the center hole.
