We finally reached Lisbon on December 1488! Without much struggle, the return was easier. Thank you to everyone that stayed with us and followed our journey until the end. I will keep in touch with you guys and let you know if I am involved in any other voyages. For now..Tchau!

Sir Bartolomeu Dias had many cultural and social impacts through his voyage, both on the natives and his own country in the 15th century. Economically, his findings and routes that he brings back will hopefully lead on to major profit with Asia later on!

Culturally, Sir Bartolomeu Dias and our crew got to see a whole new side of tradition and living. For the indigenous Khoikhoi, they were taught about Christianity, new food, clothes, and a new way of living. However, the ones that rebelled met a tragic fate.

Finally at Cape Verde, sort of missed this place. The final push and we will be at Lisbon 🇵🇹

Next stop = Cape Verde! Moods are starting to uplift, everyone seems to be feeling better overall. After all, it wasn't really an unsuccessful trip. We now return with new information on the route, navigational ways, and the natives!

On our return, we have stopped at Elmina for a quick break. Looks beautiful!

While we were unsuccessful in reaching Asia, we were able to convert some of the Khoikhoi to Christian, and teach them about our traditions and culture. We are bringing back valuable slaves along with their treasures.

The Khoikhoi look like this. I was able to finally sneak in a picture..The captain wouldn't let me! We will bring their tools with us to further study them and of course their valuables.

We are bringing back the natives from Mosselbaai - the rebelling Khoikhoi - as slaves to display Portuguese power. We will also bring some of the Khoikhoi that obeyed us and show King John II how we were successful in turning them into Christians.

The Khoikhoi have left us in despair, the loss of the 6 men really weighed down on us emotionally. They could actually be the reason we didn't succeed. They had such a huge impact on us the Portuguese! Unbelievable!

The crew is somewhat divided. While I side with the captain, I am afraid there may be mutiny amongst the crew. We turn back, devastated and lost.

It has been a rough couple days. The crew ultimately decided on going back. While we did not reach out ultimate destination, we were the first ones to reach the Southernmost point of Asia. #proudofus

I asked the captain why he hadn't taken precaution of these dangerous people, and he told me that Diogo Cao had informed him of them, but he didn't know they would be so disobeying. We ought to teach them a lesson.

Scrap that...Things are way out of control. The whole crew is in discord and no one listens to each other. The captain is distressed and the situation is dire. Even though we stocked up, the foods end really quickly as it is mostly fruit and fish left now.

THIS IS TRAGIC. 6 out of the 9 men have died due to constant attacks from the remaining Khoikhois. Seems as if there were more than we captured. No worries though, it is all under control now.

Three days have passed, and we stocked our supplies and are now on our way back to Mosselbai!

The ships have to leave to a region near Mosselbai to restock in supplies. We have left 9 men to watch guard over the Khoikhois.

While they are higher in numbers and have better organisation and tactics compared to the natives in other parts of Africa, they are still no match. We have enslaved most and left alone the ones that listened to us and accepted Christianity and our culture.
