Wondering if project based learning would be a good option for KS3. Does anyone have first hand experience or could point me in the direction of evidence for / against? (pre-Covid EEF research is non-conclusive) @Sltchat1@teacherhead@Counsell_C@johntomsett

Come and join our fantastic rapidly improving school. We’re looking for an Associate Assistant Headteacher - Head of English with wider whole school responsibilities. Ideal if you are looking to step up from middle leader to SLT.

@cura_dora@Team_English1 Absolutely - we discuss what Mr B might have done to deserve an ‘honour’ and then compare it to who they agree should be on the list in today’s society.
@sjg1703 Without observations, how can we ensure that students aren’t being failed by their teachers? To only observe some would be seen as unfair. I doubt there’s many jobs where there’s no checking of staff competency - even more important when children’s futures might be impacted.
@Headteacherchat I’d be questioning how the students are working. Could they do the work with no teacher input? Are they racing through the work set? Do students think the work is too easy / too hard? Are students making progress in the lesson / in books?
@OliverSlt@newtosltchat Gather as much evidence / facts as possible to support your views (books, student voice, lesson outcomes, external research etc)
@WhistleblowingT I don’t know a single teacher who isn’t aware that ‘all behaviour is communication’. Perhaps you could offer some suggestions on how to manage this behaviour or maybe you would like to demonstrate your ‘expertise’ by teaching a lesson?
@WhistleblowingT Do SLT have form for this type of email? Have concerns been raised in the past? If this is totally out of the blue, I would be asking for further details asap due to the email causing significant stress and worry. Perhaps ask SLT if union representation is a good idea?
@AP_Teaching@RogersHistory @JohnGriffin5951 The way I see it, since the beginning of time teenagers have rebelled against rules as part of their rite into adulthood / independence. It is far better to let them safely rebel against ear piercings, shirts being untucked etc than to rebel by being hostile or violent.
