That challenge on Palmer would've definitely been a penalty if it was inside the box.

My thoughts on Crimson Desert:
Had the chance to play at the preview event in LA as well as an early copy for review. The absolute worst part for me was having to re-play that initial 4-5 hours to get back to where we made it in the preview.
With us getting the review copy in the same time frame as Marathon was releasing + GDC week, I pretty much immediately gave up any hope at getting through the game...
Instead, I focused on just experiencing the world and doing whatever the hell I wanted and I had a blast
I'm a sucker for worlds where I can endlessly do side quests, run into the woods and find a random camp or town to terrorize, or stumble into a puzzle I'm not ready for
For me it feels a lot like my experiences of Skyrim, Breath of the Wild, and AC Odyssey which I really enjoyed...shit as soon as I could get the bandit mask and start stealing stuff right beside the shopkeepers I was sold
The combat and mechanics are CONFUSING at first and there's a ton of depth if you want it...but honestly I just defaulted to good ole faithful: button mashing and have had a great time😄
It feels like a gamers game - if you like getting lost in another world, and miss the feeling of not being able to wait until you can play again... Crimson Desert is for you.
South Korea was shattered after the war, one of the poorest nations on Earth. No abundance of natural resources, but no excuses. They didn’t play the victim, they didn’t complain incessantly or wait for handouts.
Instead, they chose brutal discipline, endless weeks of sweat, and a national refusal to accept squalor as fate out of love for their nation and their posterity. In one generation, they built the Miracle on the Han River: from rubble to one of the world’s richest economies.
Not every culture or people group does this. Many remain stuck in cycles of filth, poverty, crime, and decay simply because they cling to blame instead of building their way out. Ascent demands sacrifice. Korea proved it works.
Even look at Japan after being nuked TWICE and where they are now.
The difference between building civilization and not being able to isn’t luck. It’s choice.
