🚨 Emi Martínez: “Today I broke my finger during the warm-up and for me, every bad thing brings something good. I’ve done this my whole life and I’ll keep doing it.
"Should I be worried? Well, I’ve never had a broken finger before. Every time I caught the ball, it went the other way. But these are things you have to go through, and I’m proud to defend Aston Villa.”
🚨🎙️ | Emiliano Martínez:
“Lionel Messi called to congratulate me on winning the Europa League. I felt emotional receiving a message from the greatest to ever play the game.
I told him the World Cup is next to defend. I’ll give my all on the pitch to become a world champion again.” 🇦🇷
Aston Villa:
- Qualified for Europe for a 4th year running (something no other club outside of the “big six” has achieved)
- Qualified for the Champions League twice in 3 years
- Ranked 15th for net spend in 25/26
- Had long-term injuries to the core of the midfield
- Most fouled team in the league yet received 0 penalties the entire season + have been subjected to some pretty comical officiating
The list goes on…
Regardless of the outcome on Wednesday, the fact that Unai Emery has not been nominated for Manager of the Season is absolutely CRIMINAL.
@premierleague, care to enlighten us as to how this farcical decision was made? 😊

...John McGinn is 31 and has never impacted games more. He’s gone from the Meatball of St Mirren to the heartbeat of Aston Villa. He embodies how the game should be played. Column #AVFC 2/2

In praise of John McGinn. In a game of high stakes and high tension, McGinn’s joy in playing the sport should be cherished even more. In an industry which takes itself very seriously, McGinn brings some fun while never forgetting his responsibilities... #AVFC 1/2
I have no idea how you season ticket holders do it. The football we play is absolutely shit. Terrible watch most weeks. Yes we've had some good results, but paying good money to watch our defenders pass to each other and the keeper must be so depressing unless we win.
Win a pair of hospitality tickets to Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa🎟️
We're proud sponsors of the @EuropaLeague and Aston Villa and we're giving away 3 pairs of 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 to the first semi final!

York City have 107 points at the top of the National League. Rochdale are 2nd and were on course to have 103 with 1 game left to play until this 99th minute winner away at Braintree.
It now goes down to the last day, with Rochdale at home to York. 😳🤯
PSR/SCR:
So I'll be real, I don't like it...It keeps an established group of teams who exploited financial doping to grow for years and yeah! My side benefitted (#afc) as did Chelsea (#cfc), United (#mufc),Citeh (#mcfc) Liverpool (#lfc) Spurs (#thfc) etc there's no point hiding it, so why should we as fans of this club be upset that the likes of Villa (#avfc) Newcastle (#nufc) Everton (#efc) Forest (#nffc) or Leeds (#lufc) be restricted from doing the same thing to catch up by closing the monumental gap and making the league far more competitive?
I don't see the point in restricting ownership from being ambitious and successful as an issue, should it be carefully looked at? 100% Should their essentially be a constant gap between the haves and have nots? No, and that's where we're at now. What's the point in Everton, Villa or Newcastle building beautiful new stadiums or current additions if the gap will grow when they inevitably take hits financially during construction periods? It's a self-own so to speak.
Emery: “We don’t have the potential to sign, for example, Manchester City signing Semenyo, Tottenham signing Gallagher. OK, but we have our own power & we will exploit our capacity.
"We are creating something special here. More than the capacity to buy everything we want.” #AVFC
Man City - 2nd - 43 points - 115 charges awaiting verdict.
Signed Semenyo for £62.5m
Signing Guehi for £30m+
Aston Villa - 3rd - 43 points - 0 charges, currently compliant with all rules.
Had to sell Malen.
Could only offer loan to buy for Gallagher.
0 senior signings so far.
