259th Glasgow Guides

Small Girl Guide unit based in Pollokshields, Glasgow. We're busy every week doing what our girls decide (within reason!)

Best @Girlguiding award session so far this week. Jasmine has been with us throughout lockdowns and finally managed to get her bronze 🥉 tonight. She was so busy clapping for the unnamed guide who had got an award that she didn’t realise it was her at first 😂

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

259th Glasgow Brownies had a great time working on their @GirlguidingScot #WeeBeastie challenge tonight. We went on a bug & adventure hunt #OutdoorGuiding #BrowniesExplore

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

@WellfieldBrown1 Our Brownies had a working windmill curtesy of Mr Galaxy Owl (& and a loop the loop!)

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

@Girlguiding We celebrated this on Wednesday! We shard our favourite dinosaur, made dinosaur headdresses and finished with a Dino themed Beetle Drive 🦖 🦕 ✍️

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

@GirlguidingScot Do you know the postcode requirements for Generation Cashback?

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

#Lockdown getting you down? Aged 5-18? Why not get involved in @Girlguiding or @UKScouting? We have groups in #Glasgow #Southside meeting virtually from this week for girls wanting to do something a little bit different and make new friends. #BetterTogether

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

@missthorpe We had a yoga teacher in and 2 peer educators

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

@GirlguidingScot We are! We have a quiz we’re selling based on the number 12 as that’s how old we are!

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

Our girls have been saving their plastic bottles & we’ve turned them into poppies for #RemembranceDay2020
And we’ve included some swallows too to include @Girlguiding’s Golandrina design #PlasticRecycling

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

@BBCTheOneShow We’ve been meeting every week on Zoom since the end of March and will continue to do so for the foreseeable. Our favourite things to do are baking and science experiments! They even work sometimes!

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

We could have told them to come to us! Far more trustworthy.
It also however highlights the differences in how boys & girls were brought up then - little girls were seen and not heard. Thank goodness we’re moving away from that (though still progress to be made) #ThisGirlCan

[Quite Interesting @qikipedia]

MI5 initially worked with Boy Scouts for information gathering during WWI, but found that they were unreliable spies and inclined to brag about their work.

MI5 then replaced the Scouts with Girl Guides, who proved much more reliable.

[259th Glasgow Guides @259Glasgow]

Guides tonight was celebrating #BathtubDay so we made bath bombs! We also discussed the pros n cons of adding a whole bottle of blue food colouring to the mixture in the hope you’d look like a smurf #GuidesAreRandom Did any other @Girlguiding @GirlguidingScot groups mark today?

[Miss Rowbottom @miss_rowbottom]

I loved seeing @259Glasgow for our first socially distanced outdoor meeting since March! It even stopped raining so we could enjoy our s’mores 😍 @GirlguidingScot @GirlguidingGlas
