it is absolutely crazy how we can become so relaxed in a routine that we forget that shit can change at any moment. Today I was barbecuing in anticipation of company. While I took a quick bathroom break, I let the dogs go out to use the bathroom in the front yard. Which is a normal thing that we have done because the dogs are trained extremely well and as soon as they are done, they come back into the house. So I walked to the backyard to check on the grill while the dogs were in the front yard and my neighbor claimed that Duke was about to attack her so, she shot him. This is mind blowing to me again, this is our normal routine every single day and this has been happening since we’ve had dogs. However, I take full responsibility for this, because I became so relaxed and letting the dogs go out to use the bathroom and come right back in that I never thought something like this could even happen. I’m not sure if I believe everything that my neighbor says happened but I will give her the benefit of the doubt. I guess I just wonder why since she shot him about 7 feet away from her front door why was there no footage from the Video Door Bell? There’s no footage of the attack & and there’s no footage of her killing him. I’m so heartbroken and devastated that I can’t even focus on anything that she may have done wrong because at the end of the day this was my fault. I should have had him on a leash at all times. Please forgive me for not protecting you better😩😩. But I just want to heal. I forgive my neighbor And I accept her apology. I had to bury him, he was like my son…and I don’t think I’ve ever felt the pain like that before in my life.🤍✨
