Every grant helps put nourishing food on the table and strengthens our community. And we’re grateful to partner with PHCD to help ensure more of our neighbors have access to the food they need to thrive.
Thank you for investing in a healthier, stronger community. 🥦
🧡 Thank you to Peninsula Health Care District (PHCD) for the generous $70,000 grant that will help provide nutritious food to neighbors across San Mateo County — in San Mateo, Foster City, Millbrae, San Bruno and Burlingame.
Grateful hearts in action 🤍
Our volunteers from Brahma Kumaris had a meaningful day serving with Second Harvest Food Bank. It was truly uplifting to contribute to such an incredible initiative.
@2ndharvest
Thank you to everyone who joined us today. Together, we honored the past by showing up for one another and turning remembrance into service, compassion into action and hope into something we can build together.
#911Day#UNIITEFORGOOD
Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced unimaginable grief and loss. Today, we came together to help transform this anniversary into something powerful: love, service and hope.
They chose service — creating a tradition that has grown into a nationwide movement bringing people together to do good.
This year, @911Day is carrying that spirit forward, bringing together 50,000 volunteers to pack 17M+ meals — largest single-day meal pack in U.S. history.
This Hunger Action Month, we’re partnering up with @amazon to make your impact go TWICE as far! 🤝🧡
From being our second-largest food donor to helping power our Home Delivery program, Amazon's commitment to Second Harvest and our neighbors continues to grow year after year.
"During Hunger Action Month, we hope Amazon's match will inspire even more people to give and help Second Harvest provide nutritious food to families throughout our community."
We couldn’t agree more. When we come together, we can do more for our neighbors.

A new challenge is on the horizon for California’s food banks.
Already strained by rising costs and record demand, food banks are bracing for greater need as federal changes to SNAP eligibility take effect, putting 650,000+ Californians at risk of losing CalFresh benefits.
As local families face difficult choices between groceries and other basic necessities, @2ndharvest provides food assistance to 1 in 6 people in our region each month. Our Chief Philanthropy Officer, @ShobanaGubbi, explains, "Food becomes the flex item in people's budget."
As a goalkeeper for @wearebayfc , I’m trained to put everything on the line to make the save.
To throw myself toward the ball.
To protect the goal.
To be there when my team needs me most.
But some of the most meaningful ways we can show up happen beyond the soccer field — right here at home.
Every month, 1 in 6 people in our community turns to @2ndharvest to access nutritious food.
But this is more than a statistic.
These are our neighbors. Our community. Our Bay Area.
Across our community, people are raising kids, going to school, working, caring for loved ones and building their futures — while navigating the rising cost of living.
The Bay Area has given me so much. It’s where I get to live out my dream, where I’ve found a community and where I'm incredibly proud to call home.
That's why I’m launching Silky Saves for the Bay — to give back to the community that has given me so much and to become part of Second Harvest’s work to help end hunger in our community.
And I’m asking you to join me now.
Because you don’t have to be on the field to make a save.
We can ALL play a part.
A $5 gift. A $50 gift. Sharing this campaign with a friend. Every action adds up.
Let's stand together for a Silicon Valley where everyone can thrive.
In support of Silky Saves for the Bay, Sheryl Sandberg and Tom Bernthal along with Katharine Carroll and Alison H. Rosenthal will match every donation made toward the campaign until we reach$150,000.
