A woman was ATTACKED in broad daylight by a man who followed her in Midtown Atlanta.

Investigators say the suspect trailed the woman from the Midtown MARTA station to 10th and West Peachtree, claimed he had a gun and demanded her purse and phone. When they struggled over the purse, police say he punched her, grabbed her belongings and then took off.

The woman was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Police are now asking the public to help identify the bearded suspect, described as being in his early 30s and about 6 feet tall.

Police say he fled northbound after the attack.
