Chris Downes found a bee making a nest in a hole of his brick house. So he placed a nail in the hole to stop it. But the bee pulled it out! So then Chris grabbed his camera, put the nail back in and started filming. And the bee did it again! Amazing. #animalbehavior#bees
This bear has been tagged twice for bad behaviour. If he gets tagged a third time, he will be euthanized in some areas. Somewhere he has learnt where his next snack can come from and has become more brazen in his attempts to get food. #animalbehavior
This is a sponge crab from Australia! These crabs fashion bits of sponges, hold them above their heads and trim them to fit. The sponge keeps growing and eventually molds to fit their shell. Great disguise. The sponges also produce noxious chemicals making them no good to eat.
Researchers found that Jackdaws vote to decide when to take flight! They seem to agree when to leave as they fly off when their squawks reaches its loudest. Sometimes they fail to reach a consensus, so they leave in dribs and drabs. #animalbehavior#birds
The New York State Assembly has just passed a bill to ban the retail sale of animals in pet stores in NYS! The retail sale of dogs, cats and rabbits in pet stores across the state is no longer permitted. That means the abusive puppy mill pipeline into NYS will end. #newyork
New study has found that Bottlenose dolphins taste other dolphins' pee to discern their friends from unrelated dolphins to recognise them. Solid evidence that dolphins have a complex understanding of their family and friends. #dolphins#animalbehavior
In the Red Sea, bottlenose dolphins rub their heads on some corals, scraping their bellies on others but avoid some species altogether. Researchers discovered the corals had 17 active compounds for antioxidative and hormonal properties! They were self medicating! #animalbehavior
Accusations, malicious rumours and memes say that Quokkas toss their babies at predators to escape! Not true! Well not exactly! They do sacrifice their babies to escape predators but they don't throw them. They just relax their pouch so the baby falls out. #animals#australia
If you're driving or hiking in the Normandy region of France this weekend be extra alert for 'drunk' deer running amok! Deer overindulge this time of year on spring buds which ferment in their stomachs, making them 'drunk' as if they had consumed alcohol!

Sibling ❤️. Rescued months apart, Kinyei and Bondeni are BFFs for life. They spend every waking minute in each others company, and then retire to bed in stables next to one another.
The bombardier beetle ejects a hot fiery explosive mixture from its butt when it is threatened! So if it gets eaten by a toad, it can literally fart its way out of trouble. It lets rip inside the toad's belly until the predator vomits it up! #animalbehavior#beetles

Amazing photo shows the mutualistic relationship between a rhino and an oxpecker.
Oxpeckers eat ticks off rhinos and get food, and rhinos get pest control plus their own personal alarm system when the bird screeches at incoming humans. Win win!

A study has shown it's possible to decode pigs' grunts, oinks and squeals! Results showed how pigs felt, proving they are a highly emotional species. This could be huge for animal welfare and better livestock treatment. #pigs#AnimalWelfare#farming
