What actually matters most to a live-in host when choosing a lodger?

At first, the obvious answers come to mind: financial reliability, references, cleanliness.

But for many hosts, the deeper requirement is something else:

Will this person create problems inside the home?

A lodger can be reliable with payments. They can even be a good person.

But if their habits, lifestyle, guests, noise level, or attitude to shared space do not fit the host’s home, all those good qualities can quickly stop being enough.

Because a live-in host is not just filling a room.

They are choosing someone who will enter their daily life.

That is why respect, compatibility and household fit matter so much.
