Had a rare sit-down with the CTE Super, CTE AP, Scheduler AP, and Careers Director. I got to hash out a lot of things for my courses, and lots more leeway to recruit and use tech!

Instructional Management classes go well beyond the literal setup and management of a classroom. Exposure to new tools, ways of commo, and how students connect with teachers and materials is offered as well. Check out NAU's #CTE692

CTE Auto Tech involves a ton of diagnostic thought to solve problems with vehicles. Spending a few minutes to allow students think creatively how an engine may fail yields some interesting ideas. Yes, it's entirely possible a failed $13 filter to ruin a $7k engine.

Dr Knight's talk about a lady entering the fray of a diesel mechanics class made me smirk. I've had plenty of young ladies show up their male peers in the shop and in the class. Don't let "the usual" lead your perceptions!

Dr Knight's anecdotes about being a teenager caught doing the right thing hit home, reminding me of those times I made the "right choice" while others didn't. Sometimes doing what you feel is right gets lonely.

Watched Dr Knight's Excellence in Education video. It is a healthy collection of anecdotes and facts that many experienced teachers should be reminded of. That many of the "we oughta" statements still have teeth shows how slow the education industry can be to make changes.

Does music have a bigger place in CTE? It blurs the lines between performance arts and lucrative career, and may not seem as readily apparent as a career choice for some.
