The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating a fatal collision that shut down Highway 44 at Township Road 572, northwest of Edmonton, on Monday morning. YEGWAVE has obtained dash cam footage from the scene.

Police issued a public advisory shortly after 8:15 a.m. A 31-year-old man, the sole occupant of a Dodge Charger, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 72-year-old man driving a GMC pickup was taken to hospital with injuries.

The highway reopened around noon.
