Had a couple of hours radio time today. Sorted cables and bits and had a listen on 20m and 2m. Tried FT8 again but only for a bit, still getting out but no contacts sadly. Still need to sort hf antenna but it’s all work in progress.

Ok you helpful lot 😌, question / advice time… artic shack setup with Ft450d. Currently have a magloop in the stairway, seems ok but know could be better. I’d like to try an ext ant for HF, mainly 20m. Not wanting overly obvious. Could I go top of the window and drop down? #hamr

@m0cvo Brilliant. I’ve got plenty of room on the floor so can coil it up and put it out the way.

@m0cvo Will it matter how much is coiled? The radio table is in front of the window so will be about 1m away. Can I bring the coax in and coil on the floor before the radio?

@m0cvo Ive got one of your Magitennas but it’s actually still coiled up 😔. So even though it’s dropped down and not going horizontal or up, it will work ok?

@mw0ian Yeah, I was going to fit just above the window at the gutter point and angle fairly steeply to the garden. Any thoughts on counterpoise? Or couldn’t I maybe use an artificial ground? Or just wire?
