In contrast to the previous image .... this was an older part of the village I grew up in, characterful streets that encourage you to leave the car at home and go exploring on foot
So this is the scene I described earlier. Poor quality aesthetics judged to be 'good enough' but as architects we can do better, right? These were functional houses, make no mistake, and provided valuable homes. But we want to spark joy with #architecture.

Why did I become an #architect? Why does any kid choose a career? In my case, I instinctively hated the cheap, new build homes in my village near Huddersfield. And yet the older settlements were beautiful and just lovely places to be. Why? Such an interesting question...
