We’ve been exploring power and electricity this term and this week we made our own torches! They were a little bit temperamental and the Brownies showed great resilience in testing different ways to get their torch to work reliably #GirlsCanDoAnything
We’ve played games outside, ridden the bus, tried out Brownie activities from history and even had time for a show! What a day! Amazing fun. Fantastic to be with so many others from our county. A special day indeed, memories made! #GGDNDoBeamish@GirlguidingNEE@GirlguidingWhi1
We’re ready!! Can’t wait, it’s been a long time since we’ve been together on this scale. Have I forgotten how many snacks we’ll need??!? How many trips to the toilet? I do know there will be lots of smiles and giggles. Bring it on #GGDNDoesBeamish
And we’re off! We’re joining around 1600 girls and volunteers from Girlguiding Durham North for a visit to @Beamish_Museum to mark the coronation of King Charles III. We’ll be enjoying the museum, trying out activities from Guiding history and forming a parade #GGDNDoesBeamish
You let them loose with knives???? Some people think the Owls have lost the plot when letting the Brownies chop all of the veg for our fajitas but we know never to underestimate them! Fab listening skills, concentration and sensible use of equipment meant we had no injuries!
Brownies took part in #UKParliamentWeek activities. Snowy Owl ran a fab quiz about Parliament and the girls enjoyed preparing and running a debate on what jobs women should be able to do. Some amazing arguments and natural talent for politics!
On a lovely sunny morning, we remembered those who made huge sacrifices to be sure we’d always be free to enjoy our freedom. As always the girls did us proud, they conducted themselves brilliantly and we were especially proud of older girls looking out for our sister Rainbows 🌈
Girls this age have experienced so much disruption to their education and their extra curricular activities. It’s a pleasure to see Ellie conquering that, and absolutely smashing anything she puts her mind to. Girls can do anything!!!!
Ellie has been a Brownie with us for 3 years and has stuck with us through online meetings, outdoor meetings and breaks due to covid. Tonight she led our meeting as part of her Gold Award. She did an incredible job!! @Girlguiding@GirlguidingNEE
She asked the girls to dress up for the theme she had chosen and they all did her proud, including making their own costumes and T shirts. Watching Ellie work with the girls and put so much thought into the activities she ran has made the Owls so proud.
@GGNWE_RCC @Girlguiding_NWE Was lovely to see pockets of blue or yellow in the crowd when we were watching on TV last night. Hope you all had a fantastic time
