Haileselasie often met foreign dignitaries in Eritrea, feeling that Ethiopia appeared less modern. The Massawa palace, featured in the video, was built by Pasha Werner Munzinger a century earlier. During Eritrea's federation with Ethiopia and later annexation, Haileslasie relocated numerous factories to Ethiopia in an effort to modernize his country at the cost of Eritrea. He was overthrown 16 months after this meeting and killed a year later. His Eritrean misadventure had a considerable role in his fitting demise.
