Today marks the 37th anniversary of the Beirut Barracks Bombing. On October 23, 1983, 2 truck bombs struck the barracks buildings that housed American and French service members of the Multinational Force in Lebanon, a military peacekeeping operation during the Lebanese Civil War

CPL Aaron Shaffer - October 09, 1985 - October 15, 2015
30, of Charleston, WV; assigned to assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Lima Company, 2nd Marine Division. Aaron passed away from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.
Today is the National POW/MIA Recognition Day, which honors those who were prisoners of war (POWs) and those who are still missing in action (MIA). National POW/MIA Recognition Day was established in 1979 through a proclamation signed by President Jimmy Carter.
This year we sponsored the 2020 3/8 Weapons Company Reunion for Marine Veterans who served together in Fallujah 2005 and Ramadi 2006 as part of our Unit Reunion Sponsorship Program.

Before World War I, U.S. soldiers would go to NYC's oldest bar McSorley’s Old Ale House and leave wishbones as a good luck charm. Ones who never returned have theirs still hanging there. We added one of our 3/8 brothers, LCpl. Nick Whyte, who is from NYC, to their wall of honor.
