Not all DeFi yield works the same way,

Two strategies might show similar APYs, but the source of that yield can be completely different.

A simple way to see this is by comparing incentive farming and structured yield, something @amy_on_bera has been helping users understand while exploring strategies from @plutus_fi_x on @berachain.

➣ Incentive farming is reward-driven.

Protocols distribute tokens to attract liquidity, so most of the yield comes from:
‣ token emissions
‣ liquidity mining rewards
‣ temporary incentives

This model is effective for growth, but it often depends on rewards continuing.

When incentives slow down, the yield usually drops too.

➣ Structured yield, on the other hand, focuses on how capital is deployed.

Instead of relying mainly on emissions, the strategy itself is designed to generate returns through mechanisms like:
‣ strategic liquidity deployment
‣ exposure balancing
‣ capital optimization

Here, the yield comes from the structure of the strategy, not just external rewards.

That’s the approach @plutus_fi_x is exploring within the @berachain ecosystem, and with explanations from @amy_on_bera, it becomes easier to see how these strategies work beyond just the APY number.
