3D printing useful in pre- operative planning of endovascular aneurysm repair, in patient information and education. @ETZnl@Til_Surg@3DLab_ETZ@Brouwers_3D
Last week, our #traumasurgeons fixed a complex pelvic fracture by using a 1:1 in-house printed #3dprint of the fracture. It was very useful for insight in the 3D position of the fracture and for measuring distance of and between fragments! #3dprinter#medtech#surgery#medicine
@_MeasureTwice_ @ZimNl@JayMorris_MD@Jordanfletch6@MayoClinic@HP Furthermore, the added value often depends on the type of surgery, the patient specific case and the personal preference of the surgeons
@_MeasureTwice_ @ZimNl@JayMorris_MD@Jordanfletch6@MayoClinic@HP It would depend on whether you're using a 3D virtual model displayed in 3D space such as with the HoloLens. Then, the added value of a print could be questioned. However, If you're using a 3D virtual model rendered on a 2D screen, the orientation & is a lot harder to estimate

3D printed models can be of added value during surgery for better visualisation of the fracture. In this case, a model printed with the Form 2 assisted the surgeons during a reposition of the coracoid process. #3Dprinting#Formlabs#Surgery#ETZ

Today we had some fun with the #HoloLens2! One of our TM students is posing with the #carotid artery and vertebrae of a patient manually overlayed on him! Still, we are working on #markerless registration and hope to do this automatically in the future! #MR#Surgery#hologram#AR
An internal hernia of the bowel is often very hard to track and understand via 2D CT scans. Hence, we segmented the vascularity from the CT scan and #3dprinted it. The characteristic swirl sign is very clear in 3D. This model will be used for education in #gesurgery.
In the 3D lab, we print abdominal aortic aneurysms(AAA) before surgery so the surgeon can retrieve a good insight on the 3D orientation of the arteries and the aneurysmal sac. #aneurysm#3dprint#medtech#innovation@Ultimaker
@Schooleman@Brouwers_3D@ETZnl@Ultimaker Hi Jacky, the displaying medium makes all the difference in this case, since it provides interaction between virtual and real objects as well as in-depth 3D projection of the holograms. โบ๏ธ
