New @espn article out today on @3enCrawford and family - #marathon kids.
Kids used to run marathons more often w/o incident until the early 1980s. Why?!
I'm not advocating for it, but important to recognize there's not much evidence for or against danger.
Check out thread ⬇️
In May, a 6-year-old was allowed to participate in a marathon, polarizing the medical and running communities. My story on how a first-grader ran 26.2 miles and the exploration of who should be running marathons and is it safe for children. https://t.co/XEwJC8Grat
WHAT THE MEDIA SAYS: Bill Gates is donating his money to charity. BUT REALITY IS: Bill Gates is giving his money to HIS OWN foundation as a way to give all of his money to his children so they pay ZERO inheritance tax. Don't believe the hype.
Of all the news and opinions I've seen this is the most accurate for what we went through and how we see running. Her take on mile 20 was gold. THIS is why we created a youtube channel. https://t.co/aKCdXRgn4C
What’s more dangerous than people who go to therapy is people who stigmatize therapy.
We go to therapy, have paid for our kids to go , and we would mortgage our house to make sure they have access to anyone that can help with their mental health.
Can our critics can say the same?
(overheard at the coffee shop today)
Person 1: You know what's wrong with kids today? They run too much!
Person 2: It's out of hand! Why can't they just be on screens more??!
Person 1: We need rules in place to make running more difficult for them.
Person 2: Brilliant!
@ahemmily How I about I stick to the distances I want to. You stick to the distances you want to. And my kids stick to the distances they want to? Sound like a plan?
