Drinker of 3 margaritas. Eater of no dinner. Puker of EZ Cheese & Hint of Lime Chips as a little treat. “A man, probably a transvestite, and a brothel keeper”
@xwanyex I’m curious why you think it’s such a bad thing to believe in rehabilitation as a fundamental guiding philosophy and would really like to hear your thoughts on that
@nullpointered@vocalcry & like u were saying when you can have anything & every region/family has exercised that in such different & poor ways u also haven’t spent enough time with a specific style to understand how it works which is how someone without great artistic taste would be able to achieve that
@nullpointered@vocalcry Like how when u see the original inspirations for “out of date” interior decor styles/trends they actually look really nice. It’s the plethora of cheap knockoffs that look tacky bc they didn’t really ever understand what made the style work in the 1st place & were just imitation
Saying queer people are “ugly” is missing the obvious: culture has created such strict gender ideals that many ppl who identify as a woman can’t modify themselves to obtain those characteristics, instead they’re changing their gender to match the characteristics they can achieve
@DameJEMarshall@magicgoeshere@CanadianKayMD@UNHumanRights@FranceskAlbs It’s important to be specific & realistic in our criticisms so that actually valid & serious ones hold real weight. We need to not to be sowing discord over things that don’t matter that much bc then doctors think everyone’s just an overdramatic hater rather than having a point
@DameJEMarshall@magicgoeshere@CanadianKayMD@UNHumanRights@FranceskAlbs Even though there is a patient involved, this is clearly a joke about a course of treatment rather than the patient itself. There’s no identifying details or any sort of demographic details whatsoever. There are 100,000,000 things more valid to get angry at doctors for than this
@DameJEMarshall@CanadianKayMD The point of the “very uncomfortable” was that the treatment will make them *more uncomfortable* in the SAME way.
It’s dark comedy. Can u zoom out and just recognize that those facts together are ironic. That was the point of the tweet. She’s not being sadistic
@DameJEMarshall@magicgoeshere@CanadianKayMD@UNHumanRights@FranceskAlbs Also it’s extremely ironic & funny that the right way to treat being dizzy/unstable/nauseous is to spin you around really fast? That’s such a you gotta be kidding me reveal.
U can still have empathy for the patient and recognize on a removed level that’s just funny and ironic
@DameJEMarshall@magicgoeshere@CanadianKayMD@UNHumanRights@FranceskAlbs Listen I am the first to be extremely distrustful of doctors but I feel like it’s clear that she’s saying:
I have to explain the normal and helpful course of treatment is going to suck a lot
With the sarcasm layer we can understand: this is a challenge + sometimes not fun
Trying to force gender to conform to a narrow ideal is not an “elastic tax”, so to speak. At some point the burden of keeping up with the Joneses is going to cause u to not want to even try to keep up with Joneses
Saying queer people are “ugly” is missing the obvious: culture has created such strict gender ideals that many ppl who identify as a woman can’t modify themselves to obtain those characteristics, instead they’re changing their gender to match the characteristics they can achieve
This is also ofc not even including the equally valid choice: to not even want to express yourself in these narrow ways, even if it is achievable for you!
@DameJEMarshall@CanadianKayMD Just want to jump in here— she was definitely being sarcastic. As in, she meant it’s not fun and it’s a weird situation. “It’s always a fun day when…” is a common sarcastic turn of phrase
@BigBendChisos@jzux The political ideology of the shooter has not been confirmed.
Also, just months ago, a right-wing shooter killed Minnesota Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman.
A right-wing shooter attempted to kill Trump.
Let’s not get it twisted
@AlgoSaysRun@PaulTassi Ah yes, the AI that cannot correctly analyze the number of people in a photograph. Surely it can do the complex thematic reasoning required to create meaningful film, television, and books!
