The rain cleared, and the clouds parted just in time for the lunar eclipse max last night! We managed to capture a single shot using J2’s Canon & Sigma 150-600mm. Wish we had enough time to set up our star tracker and stack more shots, but we’re just grateful we got to see it!

Through the clouds I was able to capture the partial eclipse here in Tucson. I borrowed J2’s Canon DSLR & snapped some pictures through our telescopes solar cover. I had to use some tape as the solar cover is a lot bigger than the front of the camera lens, but it worked!

On Tuesday night, J3 pointed out the moon peeking through some clouds on our way home from jiu-jitsu. I had to grab J2’s camera & capture it while the sun was setting. While processing this, I couldn’t help but think of @AstroLarge. RIP, astro legend!

On the left of our picture you will find NGC 3628 (also known as the Hamburger Galaxy or Sarah’s Galaxy). At the top right we have Messier 65 (M65 or NGC 3623). Finally, on the bottom right you’ll see Messier 66 (M66 or NGC 3627).
