I'm all for supporting U.S. teams in international competition.

But man soccer is such an awful sport.

#4 here, ostensibly a grown man, is writhing around on the ground in apparent agony, only to get up and finish the game running on that ankle. This is the norm, not the exception in this sport.

This stuff makes it unbearable. Don't think I'll ever be able to get on board with a sport where it's commonplace for a grown man to act like a pussy.

Soccer is for girls and Europeans.

All sports tweak rules. And tweaks usually (certainly in baseball) elevate and improve the sport. Feels like once you enter the World Cup — stakes are too big — there should be LEVELS of red cards. Some simply eject you. Others eject AND suspend.

A few thoughts on the #Braves...

1) What a horrific month of June. Good grief, thank goodness it's over. I don't think it could have been worse.
2) The rotation was flawed from the beginning. There is no rotation. What would the rotation be if the playoffs started today? Think about that and get depressed. They likely need more than just one starting pitcher.
3) There are a LOT of good guys on this roster, but I do not think there is any SOB. I'm telling you, when Joc Pederson walked in the door five years ago, he was the personality needed to take that team to a new level. More than anyone, Pederson is responsible for the Braves winning the World Series - because he was the missing piece, the SOB they so desperately also need now.
4) Riley's fall is awful. I love that kid. Just a great young man and we've seen him be successful. It hurts to see him struggle so. I still believe he will figure it out and take off.
5) I do believe Alex will be active, but it's now gotten so bad that he's waited too long and the needs are multiple. Don't they need more than one SP? Don't they need another bat? Is Suarez's injury going to require another reliever? LOTS of help is needed.
6) Alex screwed up by not investing in some starting pitcher. Anyone. Yes, anyone would have helped. He rolled the dice on the rotation and survived for a while, but now it's awful. Yes, they are going to say how AJSS, Schwellenbach and Strider are coming back, but what are they going to be when they get back? Can they be what they once were? Are you really going to count on a bunch of sore-armed, hurt pitchers?
7) Farm System is MUCH improved, so that might make even harder to come up with a trade since the vultures will be circling. Alex has got to be careful on who he trades.
8) When the Braves stink in a game, just listen to 1980s music. It'll always make you feel better!

@BaseballDudes48 Base running should be drilled in at practice at the coach’s pitch level and practiced in games. Too many coaches just have their runners run track around the bases to win the game instead of developing a ball player. They start kid pitch already behind.
