ARA are extremely saddened to hear of the passing of Des Evans and we would like to send our condolences to his wife Wyn , family and friends at this difficult time.

Des started his racing career in 1953 and first competed at the Southern 100 in 1959, he went on to compete at the Manx Grand Prix and at the TT in the 60s. Des raced both Solo machines and Sidecars at the TT. Des was involved in all aspects of racing on the Island including Travelling Marshal duties between 1971 and 2002 for the TT, Manx Grand Prix and Southern 100, and in the latter years he served as Chief Travelling Marshal. Des also served as Clerk of the Course for the ARA, he never missed an ARA meeting while involved in the club with his wife Wyn and he was a long serving committee member of the Manx Motorcycle Club and Southern 100. Des made a huge contribution to racing on the Isle of Man and he had a huge influence on many, may he rest in peace.
