as a moa and a normal person with fucking EMPATHY it really saddens me how people and their own company have treated txt since debut. txt have done nothing problematic in their career, they constantly prove how hard they work on every album and song of theirs, they can sing and dance and have proved how talented they are over and over again, they even worked hard to make sure they weren’t producing tiktok slop like other artists only to receive barely any promotion compared to other artists in their company. not only that but it feels like yearly there is a random hate train for literally no reason towards at least one member of the group when all txt does is mind their own business and work extra hard to prove how good they are to others. not only that, but just because they’re (unfortunately) under hybe it’s made the hate trains towards them sooo much worse. it’s so fucking frustrating as a fan having to constantly see antis pretend to care about serious things only to fuel their fanwars towards a group they don’t like for no fucking reason on twitter.

there are already many statements and explanations out there worth reading, especially from native and fluent korean speakers, so i don’t think i need to repeat everything that’s already been said. if anything, my message is more so to hopefully encourage people to take the time to listen to them before deciding where they stand. (you can read more below)
and also cause i just didn’t want to stay completely silent and not make an effort to contribute to the conversation in a meaningful way
the concept of dismissing korean people explaining cultural contexts and linguistic differences to spread EXTREMELY HARMFUL MISINFORMATION just bc you don’t like someone is disgusting I hate evb
? that episode was already out for 3 weeks and no one cared until a fucking akgae started running around w their own narrative clearly it shows that yall actually dont gaf & are just Thrilled to find ways to cancel him
engenes, beomgyu akgaes, and soobin akgaes are coming together to spread misinfo ab yj. their obsession with him is getting insane. they're even willing to make serious allegations against him and start a hate train based on baseless claims just bc they want to bring him down.
YJ was born and raised in korea. he is not american. he lived there for TWO years when he was 9 years old. he knows english very well, but he is not 100% fluent. a lot of kpop stans hold any idol that know a good amount of english to a higher standard than others. you won’t even listen to native koreans explaining the situation so there’s no point in trying to explain. you can interpret however you want, but stop pretending as if the word can’t have nuance only because you only view it in one way. YJ was raised in korea, surrounded by korean culture, slang and more. holding him to this high standard of “he should know better!” because he knows a fair amount of english is..? knowing english ≠ knowing all cultural differences and how a common phrase he’s known for years living in korea could be viewed as something terrible in other places.
Can we Please consider language nuances between Korean and English before accusing people of serious crimes? Sexy has a less sexual tone and he literally has the word in his vocabulary as a Compliment - language barriers and context obviously play a role that you're all ignoring.
A lot of people need to be reminded that 🦊 was born and raised in Korea and isn’t a native English speaker. Like okay yes he did live in the U.S. for 2 years when he was around 9, but that’s not enough to make someone fully fluent or native-level in English
He can understand and express himself in English pretty well, but there’s still a difference between that and having complete fluency esp when it comes to nuance, tone and idioms. That’s what people keep overlooking!
Language ability also isn’t static. If you grow up mainly speaking 1 language (which in his case is Korean) that naturally becomes your dominant one. Even if you learn another language early on, it can weaken if you’re not consistently using it at a native level That’s just how bilingualism works🤷♀️
So to be over-criticizing his knowledge in English or expect him to perfectly grasp every nuance, then you’re applying a double standard. Especially when even between native speakers, meaning can get losttranslation between languages is never 1:1. Different languages encode tone, cultural context and implied meaning in completely different ways which is exactly why certain phrases don’t have direct equivalents
At the end of the day, he’s bilingual in a practical sense, not a native English speaker and people need to stop holding him to an unrealistically high standard
okay i just watched the clip, yeonjun was dressing the boy and the boy was about to throw a tantrum so yeonjun called him a handsome boy to convince him to wear the clothes and not cry, you guys are so weird for twisting such an innocent interaction
the way yeonjun has used that word for FOOD but kpop stans who speak no korean want everyone to believe it has the same meaning as an english word that is never used for food because of a bad translation clearly made by antis
hello, we have seen a clip of YJ going around and we wanted to explain the nuance of the word “sexy”. it’s understandable as to why people feel uncomfortable by it because to many of us, the word “sexy” carries a sexual undertone. however, the word “sexy” in korea carries a significantly less sexual undertone and is rather used as calling someone attractive, handsome and/or cool. we would never defend something that is wholeheartedly weird. we won’t bash those who feel uncomfortable because again, most people aren’t aware that the term carries different undertones.
