What’s actually going on in Ukraine is that there is a massive incentive difference between the elites and the people.

The former have grown very rich off the hundreds of billions flowing to Ukraine, while the latter’s children are conscripted to die in trenches.

What cynicism. Zelenskyy brought a teddy bear to the graves of children who could still be alive if he had not escalated this war and had agreed to peace on realistic terms instead of maximalist demands. A teddy bear—while companies linked to his circle extract billions from the war. Disgusting.

Continuing the war as it is will lead Ukraine toward collapse and that the only way for Ukraine to survive as a state is to settle on a realistic peace now rather than years more of attrition and bloodshed.

Mendel is highly critical of Putin and the Russian invasion, but equally critical of how the war is being prolonged by Zelensky and the West, as well as the distorted information environment surrounding the war. She says BOTH presidents are destroying Ukraine.
