In a devastating blow to the logging industry in Northern NY, the Finch pulp mill at Glens Falls NY is unexpectedly closing down.

Finch was one of the largest buyers of pulpwood in the Northeast. With them 100% gone, tons of timberland is about to go dormant. Small outfits will fold; larger logging entities will be scrambling to find buyers.

For some towns, where logging is the final bastion of anything resource-based, it's gonna be devastating. In towns like mine, once logging is gone, there will only be government dollars circulating -- nothing else.
