Happy to celebrate - over a decade of Heritage Railway Views, News & Fans 😊 Here's to the next 11! We're creating the RAILPlace Network - where's YOUR favourite #RAILPlace? Any pictures? Does it no longer exist? Thanks @SLPNostalgia for their book series!! #MyTwitterAnniversary
On this day in 1781, George Stephenson was born. His story is well known and he is quite rightly known as "The father of the Railways" Most of his work was evolutionary, rather than revolutionary, but that was the measure of the man.
This is the story of the historic 'locomotives graveyard' in Wales where hundreds of old engines were saved from the scrapheap - and explains why there wouldn't be a heritage railway business in the UK if it wasn't for Dai Woodham's remarkable scrapyard

Think the last time I was on this Station I was just a kid on a Seaside trip...anyhow,43468+43480 pass Seaton Carew on 1Z46 1715 Newcastle-Finsbury Park Charter.

An opportunity for passengers from Merseyside and Lancashire to travel by steam train over scenic railway routes. Our train travels north via West Coast Main Line and returns by the spectacular Settle & Carlisle Railway line.
A friend just sent me these shots of HSTs in Nigeria. Is this a late (or early?) April Fool or is it true? If the latter then this is quite extraordinary - the power car that keeps (internationally) giving!!
ON THIS DAY: 18 years ago, Shoreditch station was served for the last time. Shoreditch High Street opened on the Overground on a different site 4 years later. Images from the final day by Mike Knell (note the black bunting outside the station!) https://t.co/Upqu3lsAXB

A top up for regular branch engine 55051 before returning to The Mound in July 1955.
The 50 year old ex-HR 0.4.4T would be withdrawn the following year, to leave sister 55053 to carry on for a few months more.
The seven and three-quarter mile branch closed in 1960. Apart from the pile of wood, the whole station area looks neat and tidy.

This one is so annoying. We cannot read the running in board, the name is also picked out in stones on the embankment opposite: the print shows BO or BU. Single track, ?LSW signal post, unusual footbridge, lobster pot extreme right. Can anyone put a name to this place, please?
Morning all , a short video clip today as we said our final goodbyes to our dear departed friend Harvey Scowcroft, the long whistle as the train heads away is the time his ashes went up the chimney of the loco he also paid to be painted. #Steamfix
#whatstation 814 is a very large L&YR shed, no station at all unless the square building in the centre with the little pointed tower is a station building. This must be late 1940s or early 1950s - one engine still has its pre-BR number. Can anyone locate this shed for us, please?
