Auntie Rachel took this lovely photo of dear Robert's statue.
It made Betty smile because a spider has decorated it with some web.
Can you see it?
Spiders must be very clever to be able to do things like that.
I know some humans are scared of spiders but Betty thinks they are very interesting.
Do you like spiders?
Patch got his wings yesterday. He’s been part of my life since he was 3 mnths old. He developed lymphoma 6 months ago & life was becoming too much for him. He was 15 years old. We will miss him as will his feline companions.

hey everyone, i just wanted to ask for prayers and good thoughts for my cat right now. this has honestly been one of the scariest things i’ve ever dealt with. when we first brought him home, he wasn’t eating, drinking, or using the bathroom, and by saturday he started showing more serious symptoms and was clearly uncomfortable and not acting like himself.
we found out he has a urinary obstruction, they were able to relieve the blockage and decompress his bladder, but because of how long everything had been building up, his potassium levels became dangerously high. he’s now hospitalized, catheterized, and being monitored closely for the next few days while they try to stabilize him and get his levels back down.
seeing him like this has been heartbreaking, and the house already feels so empty without him here. he means absolutely everything to me, and i’m trying really hard to stay hopeful and positive for him right now. i’d really appreciate any prayers, good thoughts, or positivity for my sweet boy. 🤍
PETA UK has released footage showing a horse collapsing from exhaustion in Egypt, with workers responding by hitting and kicking the animal until it was forced back onto its feet.
The organisation is calling on Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to immediately ban horse-drawn carriages, which remain a common feature at tourist sites across the country.
Horses used in the tourism industry in Egypt frequently work long hours in extreme heat, carrying heavy loads of passengers with inadequate rest, food, and water.
Welfare organisations have documented widespread suffering among working horses at major sites including the Pyramids of Giza, Luxor, and other popular destinations.
PETA UK is urging supporters to contact the Egyptian tourism ministry directly and demand an end to the practice. The organisation argues that Egypt's government has both the power and the responsibility to stop the abuse and transition to humane, vehicle-based alternatives for tourist transport.

I've been thinking about Rainbow Day in August.
I know that lots of you would love to come to the allotments to share the day together but you live too far away.
Maybe it would be a good idea if you send a photo of your pets on the day and we will include them.
What do you think?
David (@Uniquepoems4u) will also include names of pets in a lovely video he is making.
Don't do anything just yet, I will tell you when to send photos and names soon.
I'm looking forward to this special day on 23rd August, I hope you are too.
Reed Warbler shooting up a reed stem so fast the feet aren't actually touching the reed! 😮
Happy to get this shot, not easy!😊
Taken a couple of weeks ago at Steart Marshes in Somerset. 🐦
If you see this photo, please leave a comment! 😊
This is a Swift, a very difficult bird to photograph at the best of times, but even tougher when low-flying, so I was thrilled to get this pic! 😀😍
Have you seen Swifts this spring yet? 🐦

It was so warm yesterday that I spent a lot of time just sleeping in the Big Greenhouse.
I'm not sure if I dreamed this or not, but I think Betty told me that something special is being planned at the allotments for August.
I'll let you know when I find out more about it.
It's good to have something to look forward to, isn't it?
On this day in 1982, HMS Argonaut was attacked and damaged by Argentine air attacks - Able Seaman Iain M. Boldy and Able Seaman Matthew J. Stuart were killed.
Stuart Cove, East Falkland and Boldy Island, north of Falkland Sound were named in their honour. 🇫🇰🇬🇧

Local residents have started feeding her.
On this day in 1982, the 22nd Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment carried out the Raid on Pebble Island, supported by HMS Glamorgan and HMS Broadsword.
Reminiscent of SAS operations of the Second World War, the successful raid disabled 11 Argentine aircraft. 🇫🇰🇬🇧

Norway just made a decision that will be remembered for years.
The country has officially ended fur farming nationwide. No more mink or foxes will be bred, kept in cages, and killed for clothing. An industry built on animal suffering is now gone.
This took years. Investigations exposed what life in fur farms looked like. Animals lived in small wire cages. They could not run, dig, or behave naturally. Many showed clear signs of stress. People saw the reality and spoke up.
Public pressure grew. Animal welfare groups kept pushing. More citizens questioned whether fashion could justify that cruelty. Lawmakers responded and passed a ban. Farmers received time to transition and shut down their operations. That process is now complete.
This matters. Thousands of animals will not be born into cages. Fewer lives will be treated like products. Norway chose compassion over tradition and profit.
The impact also reaches beyond Norway. Decisions like this show other countries that change is possible. They push others to look at their own systems and ask if they still make sense.
Consumers are driving this shift too. More people choose alternatives. More brands stop using fur. Demand is changing, and industries are forced to follow.
This is what progress looks like. It builds over time through awareness, pressure, and action. Then one day, what once seemed normal is no longer accepted.
Norway has drawn that line.

After waiting… and waiting… and wondering if today would finally be the day…
It was.
This sweet cat woke up in a shelter cage like any other morning. Same walls. Same routine. Same quiet hope that someone might stop, look a little longer, and choose them.
And this time… someone did.
No more cold floors.
No more being overlooked.
No more wondering “why not me?”
Just a ride home.
A new name, maybe.
A warm place to sleep.
A life where they finally belong.
It’s easy to scroll past moments like this… but this is everything.
Because for every adoption you see, there are still so many waiting for their turn.
And sometimes, the difference between “still waiting” and “going home” is just one person deciding to stop and say yes.
Today, this one got their yes. 💕❤
